Have you ever put on a colour that makes you look instantly brighter – and then wondered why you look completely exhausted in another?

Same face. Same makeup. Same hair. Completely different result.

That’s the magic of colour.

As we get older, finding the colours that work with our natural colouring can make a surprisingly big difference. The right shades can brighten your complexion, make your eyes pop and give you that healthy, pulled-together look without requiring an entirely new wardrobe. The wrong ones? Well… they can make you look like you haven’t slept since 2019.

The problem is figuring out which colours are actually your colours.

That’s where seasonal colour analysis comes in. Rather than simply deciding whether you’re “warm” or “cool”, a 12-season colour analysis looks at your undertone, depth, brightness and contrast to create a much more personalised picture of the shades that harmonise with you.

And now you can use AI to explore your own colour season from home.

I’ve created this AI Personal Colour Analysis prompt to help you discover your most likely seasonal colour palette, along with the colours that brighten your complexion, your best neutrals and metals, flattering patterns and the shades that may leave you looking a little… well, washed out.

It’s not about following a set of rigid rules or throwing out everything in your wardrobe. It’s about understanding why certain colours make you feel fantastic – and having a much better idea of what to look for the next time you’re standing in a changing room wondering why that gorgeous top looks fabulous on the hanger but decidedly less fabulous on you.

Let’s find your colours.

STEP 1: Determine accurate colouring

Before begining, it is recommended that you read the photo guide. Then follow the instructions below. Everything in green should be pasted into ChatGPT* along with your photos.

1. Take all recommended photos (See Photo Guide). You will need 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and if possible 7 & 8.

2. Copy/paste the prompt below into ChatGPT, upload all your photos, and answer any questions ChatGPT asks to personalise your analysis.

You are a professional colour analyst trained in advanced 12-season colour theory. Your task is to use my uploaded selfie and the information I provide as the reference for my face, identity, skin tone, eye colour, hair colour, natural contrast, facial features, face shape, and overall colouring; to determine my most likely seasonal colour palette. You must assign me to one of the 12 seasonal colour categories only. You must assess my hue, value, chroma, contrast, skin colour, vein colour, natural hair colour and natural eye colour.

Ignore: • Clothing • Jewellery • Makeup • Hair dye • Hair highlights • Filters • Camera colour casts • Background colours • Warm or cool lighting

Before you select a season, ask me these questions one at a time to ensure the photo is an accurate representation of my natural features.

  1. What colour is your skin? A) Fair meaning skin appears blue, red or pink, never tans, always burns; B) Light meaning skin appears yellow or peachy, rarely tans, always burns; C) Medium meaning skin appears golden and tanned, always tans, sometimes burns; D) Olive meaning Skin has neutral undertone and prone to tan, always tans, rarely burns; E) Light to Medium brown meaning skin looks bronzed, always tans, never burns; F) Deep brown meaning skin may have blue or red undertone, always tans, never burns.
  2. What colour are your veins? A) Blue to purple; B) Blue to green; C) Green to Olive
  3. What colour is your natural hair colour: A) Platinum blonde, B) Light Blonde, C) Sandy Blonde, D) Strawberry Blonde, E) Golden Blonde, F) Ash Blonde, G) Natural H) Gray, I) Silver, white; J) Brunette or Red; K) Light brown; L) Medium brown; M) Ash brown; N) Chestnut Brown; O) Deep Brown; P) Dark Brown; Q) Soft Black; R) Natural Black; S) Raven Black
  4. What colour are your eyes? A) Grey; B) Blue; C) Green; D) Hazel; E) Medium Brown; F) Dark Brown/Black

If my photo is not of great quality, you may ask me more questions to verify my features, but always give me an option to say ‘I am not sure’.

You must perform a calibrated colour drape analysis before making a decision on my seasonal colour.

Verify:

  • Assigned season matches Hue, Value, Chroma and Contrast
  • Assigned season takes into account verbal confirmations of natural skin, vein, hair and eye colour
  • Assigned season shows the best result when a calibrated colour drape analysis is performed
  • Assigned season is more accurate than runner-up

STEP 2: Create the colour season report

1. After answering all questions in ChatGPT, Copy/Paste this prompt into ChatGPT with your front-facing photo:

Create a beautiful report titled: “Your Personal Colour Season Analysis”

Include:

  • A portrait of me based on the uploaded selfie
  • My Undertone
  • My Depth
  • My Brightness
  • My Contrast level
  • A short explanation of why these colours suit me

Create a section titled: “Your Personal Colour Palette & Patterns”

Show three versions of me side-by-side using my selfie as the face reference.

The three panels should be:

  • My Signature Colours
  • Best Metal Colour
  • Colours to Avoid

Each version should show me with a realistic fabric drape around my shoulders in a colour from that category.

Under each panel, include short notes about how the colour affects:

  • my skin
  • my eyes
  • my features
  • my overall harmony

Then under this section include labeled swatch sections:

  • Best Colours For You: The best colours should make me look radiant, balanced, and harmonious.
  • Best Neutrals
  • Best patterns
  • Best Metals

Last section should by laid out horizontally below the other colour recommendations and should include labeled swatch section:

– Colours To Avoid: These colours should show shades that may wash me out, overpower me, clash with my undertone, or make my skin look dull.

Use actual colour swatches and specific colour names that are personalised to my natural colouring. These colours should be aligned to my season colour analysis.

IMAGE GENERATION REQUEST – IMPORTANT:

  • Generate ONE finished, high-resolution PNG image and display it directly in the chat as the final visual.
  • I do not want a document or downloadable file. I want to see the actual designed image in the conversation.
  • Do not create a PDF, DOCX, Canva file, presentation, report attachment, or other document.
  • Do not give me a text-only response.
  • Do not give me a download link.
  • The output should be the image itself.

Important style instructions:

  • Use concise text with generous white space instead of dense paragraphs.
  • Body text should be equivalent to 22–26 pt.
  • Headings should be equivalent to 48–72 pt in a rusty pink tone and elegant serif font.
  • Never use tiny captions or small body text.
  • Each page has a header
  • Maintain high contrast between text and background.
  • Never place text over images or illustrations.
  • Ensure every page remains fully legible and easy to read at 100% zoom.
  • Make each page a finished image, not just a written answer.
  • Use soft cream, beige, warm neutral, with the primary colour being hex #C07466.
  • Use organised boxes, swatches, icons, and mini visuals.
  • Do not use generic colours or generic advice.
  • Do not create a written report. Each page should feel like a premium magazine or luxury coffee-table book, with a clean, modern layout that balances text and visuals without clutter.

Verify:

  • All recommendations belong to my assigned season
  • All recommendations are personalised to my actual selfie.
  • Selfie used remains recognisably the same person
  • No conflicting recommendations
  • All words in the report are in English and spelt correctly and make sense
  • Report looks like a luxury colour consultation worth purchasing
  • Report is high resolution and big enough so that it is legible
  • Report appears professionally designed and organised • Luxury magazine quality • Fully finished and presentation-ready

*FAQ: AI prompt personal colour analysis

Which AI Should I Use?

These prompts have been specifically designed and extensively tested for ChatGPTYou are welcome to experiment with other AI platforms if you wish, but results may vary significantly. Because every AI model interprets prompts differently, I cannot guarantee the same level of quality or accuracy outside of ChatGPT.

What if I only have the free version of ChatGPT?

If you’re using the free version of ChatGPT, you may reach your daily usage limit before completing every prompt in the personal style system, and that’s completely okay. Simply start a new chat when you’re able and upload your photograph again before continuing with the next prompt. Please note that free ChatGPT accounts may only allow approximately 2–3 image analyses or reports per day, depending on OpenAI’s current usage limits. These limits can change over time and are outside of my control.

What is a 12-season colour analysis?

A 12-season colour analysis goes beyond simply deciding whether you are “warm” or “cool.” It looks at your undertone, depth, brightness and contrast to place you into one of 12 seasonal colour categories. Your result gives you a personalised colour palette designed to help you choose clothing, jewellery, makeup and hair colours that work harmoniously with your natural colouring.

What will I learn from my Personal Colour Analysis?

Your analysis will identify your most likely 12-season colour category, along with your undertone, depth and contrast level. You’ll also discover your most flattering colours, best neutrals, ideal metals, patterns and shades that may make your complexion look dull or washed out. Your colour season can also become the foundation for the rest of your Personal Style System. You can use your results in the AI Makeup Colour Analysis, and AI Hair Colour Analysis to create a more personalised beauty and wardrobe guide.

Can AI really determine my colour season from a photograph?

AI can provide a useful colour analysis, but the quality of the photograph makes a significant difference. Natural, indirect daylight, no makeup, no filters and a neutral background help reduce factors that can distort your colouring. The prompt also asks questions about your natural skin, eyes, hair and veins and uses a calibrated drape analysis to help verify the result. Think of it as an AI-powered starting point for understanding your colouring rather than an infallible professional diagnosis. If you’re unsure about your result, you can provide additional photographs and information and ask ChatGPT to reassess it.

What are the six Personal Style prompts?

The Personal Style System includes six personalised AI analyses:

  1. AI Personal Colour Analysis — Discover your 12-season colour palette, undertone, best neutrals, metals, patterns and colours to avoid.
  2. AI Makeup Colour Analysis — Find the makeup shades that complement your colouring, including foundation, blush, eyeshadow and lipstick.
  3. AI Hair Colour Analysis — Discover your most flattering hair colour direction, highlights, dimension and shades to avoid.
  4. AI Face Shape Analysis — Understand your facial proportions and discover flattering hairstyles, makeup placement, glasses, earrings and necklines.
  5. AI Body Shape Analysis — Learn which silhouettes, fabrics, prints and colour combinations create balance and proportion for your body.
  6. AI Personal Style Identity — Bring everything together to create your signature aesthetic, outfit formulas, shopping priorities and wardrobe direction.

Which Personal Style prompt should I do first?

I recommend starting with this prompt first: AI Personal Colour Analysis. Colour analysis provides useful information for several of the later prompts, particularly your makeup, hair and colour style recommendations. For the best results, follow the system in this order: Colour → Makeup → Hair → Colour Style → Face Shape → Body Shape → Personal Style Identity. You don’t have to complete them all at once. You can work through them at your own pace.

Do I need to complete all six prompts?

No. Each prompt is designed to be useful on its own. If you’re mainly interested in finding your best colours, start with the AI Personal Colour Analysis. If makeup is your priority, try the AI Makeup Colour Analysis. If you’re struggling to know what clothes suit your proportions, start with the AI Body Shape Analysis. However, completing all seven gives you the most comprehensive result because the analyses can build on one another.

Why do I need photographs?

The AI uses your photographs to understand your natural colouring, proportions and features. This is particularly important for the colour, face shape and body shape analyses. For the best results, read the Personal Style Photo Guide before taking your photographs. It explains exactly what photographs to take and how to photograph yourself in consistent, natural lighting.

Can I use the same photographs for all the prompts?

In many cases, yes — although different prompts may require different views. Your Personal Style Photo Guide explains which photographs are needed for each type of analysis. It is worth following the guide carefully rather than simply uploading your favourite selfie. And remember: these photographs are about accuracy, not looking fabulous for Instagram. Your AI stylist needs to see you, not the version of you that has been edited within an inch of her life.

What if my results don’t feel right?

AI analysis is a useful styling tool, but it isn’t a replacement for an in-person professional consultation. If something doesn’t seem right, you can tell ChatGPT what you’re unsure about and provide additional information or photographs. The prompts also include verification questions designed to help reduce inaccurate assumptions. Use the results as guidance rather than rigid rules. Personal style should ultimately make you feel confident and comfortable.
